Nutrition and Meals

Supporting Future Growth (SFG) participates in the California Department of Education (CDE) Nutrition Services Division (NDS) program providing nutritious Breakfast, snacks, and lunch daily to children enrolled in SFG sites. Menus are prepared in advance and posted in each classroom. Meals served are in a family-style setting.

Teachers work hard to ensure mealtimes are a relaxed and enjoyable part of the day. Children have daily opportunities to learn about nutrition, table etiquettes, and foods from other cultures. Children will practice fine motor and conversational skills during mealtime. Teachers will enthusiastically encourage children to taste everything served but will not force them to eat food undesirable.

Supporting Future Growth supports the special dietary needs of children. A physician must provide written instruction on a diet exemption referral.
